BMW E30 M3 - 215 HP

NOW SOLD

he E30 M3 requires no introduction to the motoring enthusiast. It has the finest competition history of any tin top racer and will go down in the record books as the single model to have won more international race, rally and hill climb championships than any other car. Driven by legends like Stuck, Cecotto, Ravaglia, Soper, Pirro, and Quester to name but a few.

The road version has gone down in the history books as the most flattering saloon car chassis of all time.

It is now very rare to find any E30 M3 as original and unmolested as this example, which has never been restored and has every original panel. The body shell is exceptional with no corrosion and 16 years of heated storage has helped to preserve the shell in its original state. With only 4 owners outside BMW and with a full service history from new this car represents a great opportunity to own an exceptional late 215 bhp model E30 M3.

The car was originally built and supplied with 15” wheels in Germany but the previous owner changed to the more desirable 16” wheels when he purchased it in 1998. It was ordered new with the very rare and very expensive EDC (Three position suspension, Sports, Normal and Comfort). The original German Fahrzeugbrief comes with the car, as does the original fully stamped service book, all the original manuals and the service wallet. The car also has every MOT since arriving in the UK along with supporting documentation and purchase invoice from Terry Rymer. Even the original BMW Bavaria C Business radio is still fitted as are the original velour over mats.

I have personally known the last three owners who are great friends of Classic Heroes and have cared for the car since 1998.

History

First registered on the 5/10/90 to BMW AG. BMW kept this car and sold it to the 1st owner on 25/3/91 with 11,000 KM.

The 2rd owner purchased the car from the importer, Terry Rymer (well know British motorcycle racer) in the UK on the 9/4/98 with 93,000 KM. This was his second E30 M3 and the car was used as a daily driver during 98 and 99. On seeing prices in the late 90s starting to harden he decided that the car was too good to be used daily and it went into heated storage in 1999. In March of that year new employment in China meant that the car was put into long term storage with only the odd outing for special events such as Le Mans, Goodwood and Nurburgring 24 hour etc.

The engine oil and gearbox oil were changed at regular intervals while in long term storage. When he moved back to the UK permanently a difficult decision had to be made and after many months of debate he decided that the M3 should go to a new home making room for the purchase of an XK140. We were asked to find her a new home.

The third owner who lived in Switzerland purchased her from us on 10/09/2013 with 133,985 KM. He believed he would be moving to the UK within 2-3 years but his long term plans changed and he is stayed in Switzerland. As it was not possible to import this particular car into Switzerland due to their very strict emission laws. So, again the difficult decision was made to find her a new owner.

In April 2016 a great friend of Classic Heroes was united with the car as the 4th owner.  During this time we have continued to care for the car and he has covered  7,000 km of some of the most enjoyable motoring he has ever done. The M3 was part of his collection including and BMW Z8, BMW M635 CSI, Alfasud, Datsun 240Z and Alfa Romeo 8C. Although now a hardcore E30 M3 convert, he  has now  decided we should find this M3 another lucky new owner. This is to make way for the build of a historic race car to add to his collection.
