he BMW M coupe always had a lot to live up to. Conceived by five engineers working overtime and undercover, it set out to be a no-holds-barred return to the enthusiast-focused philosophy upon which BMW once built its reputation. Back in 1998 this was the car for those who found the M3 too soft, too understated, and the M roadster too fragile. Still beloved by many of M’s senior engineers today, there is no getting away from the fact this particular masterpiece from Munich is a pedigree Rottweiler – not one cross-bred with a poodle.
With monster tyres and oversized arches the styling was far from discreet. The concept was all about fusing the relatively conventional sportscar design of the standard Z3 with a heavy dose of outright aggression and the added torsional strength that only a tin top coupe provides. This was a return to proper old-school sports cars that demanded the drivers full attention as the wonderful straight 6 soared to 7,600 rpm. This legendary engine produces 325bhp and won the International Engine of the Year award for six straight years in a row from 2001 through to 2006.

One added benefit of these later S54 engined Coupes was the addition of DSC; a very worthwhile companion in this swift coupe.
The first owner bought the car for his 50th birthday present. During his care the car was cherished and every single document kept. We bought the car from the first owner 2011 and have sold her to the last two owners and been responsible for her care during that time.
This truly stunning example is a collector’s dream opportunity. The car has only covered 32,000 miles in the hand of just three fastidious owners and with this level of originality has to be the best example of an S54 M Coupe we know of.

The car is presented in showroom condition throughout. Supporting the complete service history is every single document and invoice from new, all MOT’s, a hand written maintenance log from first registration, original brochure, original order form and original sales invoice.
Before being presented to the new custodian, the car will pass through our workshop for the normal high level of sales preparation work. The following will be carried out.
