nique. Fascinating. Brutal. Unprecedented. Head-Turner. Beautiful. Just some of the words that over time have been used to describe BMW’s extravagant, 400 BHP, all aluminum Z8 roadster.

It’s flamboyant entrance to the model line-up in 1999 certainly turned heads and guaranteed its place as one of the most fascinating cars ever produced by BMW in its near 100 year history. The Z8’s origin and inspiration date back to the 1950’s when Count Albrecht Graf Goetz laid pen to paper and conjured up the beautiful V8 powered BMW 507 roadster. A true 50’s style icon that reeked of glamour, style and celebrity which now changes hands for upwards of £1,000,000.

Back in the mid 1990’s BMW were looking for a new range topper. Something that would turn heads, pay homage to its history but also showcase the technology and brutal power on-tap from its famed M division. Enter……… stage left, the BMW Z8.

The Z8’s specification was particularly impressive. 4941cc V8 of M Power grunt lifted directly from the E39 M5 which produced 400 bhp at 6,600rpm and 368lb ft. at 3,800 rpm M5 six speed gearbox with modified final drive. All aluminum space frame, alloy body with MacPherson struts up front and multi-link rear axle. Proper supercar stuff

At just 4400mm in length, the Z8 is not only shorter than a Porsche 911 it is also brutally fast; much quicker in fact than the E39 M5. Whilst limited to 155 mph standard cars have been known to exceed 160 mph.

All in all, BMW built a total 5,703 Z8’s between 2000 and 2003. Of these 3,160 were built to EU specification and 2,543 were built for the US market. Also included in these figures are 555 chassis that were delivered to Alpina and built between 2002 and 2003.

This car was ordered in Titan silver with Sport Red leather. Originally supplied new in Germany and now having covered only 13,500 km.

After a long period of time in storage with the previous owner a BMW main agent, we have just finished a complete check over and report on the car. An Inspection II service, new brake fluid, new coolant, new battery, PDI and a new MOT will be issued ready for collection by the new owner.

She will be handed over with all the correct Z8 parts. The hardtop, hardtop stand, hard top storage cover, convertible hood cover, spare keys, all original manuals, service book, service wallet and original Z8 radio still fitted. In the history file is a letter from the main agent who has owned the car for the majority of her life stating they purchased the car from the first owner on the 11th April 2002 with only 1,500 miles.
