Sound Advice

April 11, 2019

Although we did not personally inspect this E46 M3 prior to our customer purchasing the car, we did spend a long time on the phone to our customer offering buying advice and informing him where the E46 Achilles’ heels lie. We also sent him pictures and videos of where to look and some of the problems seen on other E46 M3s, especially when it comes to bodywork corrosion.  We are always happy to offer as much advice as we can.

He listened and as a result this lovely example in Oxford green is now in the workshop. The obvious service work is being carried out and then age related work to the suspension, brakes, differential seals replaced and belts put the car in A1 mechanical fettle.

When inspecting the car the new owner did spot some areas of surface corrosion having carefully listened to our advice. We inspected the boot floor for cracks around the rear sub-frame bolts and no cracks were found. Despite having no cracks, it was decided that while the rear sub-frame was out for bush and ball joint work, we would carry out the reinforcing modification to the boot floor now to ensure no cracks appear in the future.

The final phase was to thoroughly clean the underside of the car and treat all the cavities with Dinitrol cavity wax.

Ready to be enjoyed for the summer!
