Treser UR Audi Quattro

£Sold
The Type 85 Audi Quattro needs no introduction to the car nut. We are all familiar with the success of the Quattro in rallying. We all watched our heroes, Hannu Mikkola, Walter Rohrl, Michele Mouton and Stig Blomqvist dominating rounds of the WRC and winning championships during the 80s. If you have not yet watched Mouton and Rohrl on Pikes Peak you need to login to YouTube immediately.
The Quattro simply means “four” and UR is German for “original”. The Quattro concept was born in 1977 and launched at the 1980 Geneva Motor Show. The Quattro was the first all-wheel drive rally car and production ran from 1980 – 1991.

Walter Treser may need an introduction. An extraordinarily talented engineer. He was there at the birth of the Quattro concept. He was head of Advanced Special Vehicles for Audi from 1976 and then Project Manager of the Audi Quattro during the development. From 1980 – 1982 he was Head of Audi Sport overseeing the Quattro in the WRC. In 1982 Treser decided a new challenge was calling, he resigned from Audi and Treser Automobiltechnic und Design was founded specialising in engineering and styling of Audi cars. His previous experience with Audi and still working closely with the factory at Ingolstadt made Treser an instant success and quickly appointed agents in the States, Australia, Japan and the UK.

This particular car is a 1984 WR engine version. That’s the 2144 CC, 10 valve, single overhead camshaft engine producing 200bhp. Converted to Treser Spec from new by the UK Treser agent Central Garage in Cobham. The hand-built Treser engine featured larger inlet and exhaust valves, reworked and polished cylinder head and ports, Treser camshaft, Treser air box, reworked fuel injection, larger intercooler taking the performance to 250 BHP. This particular example also benefited from the Treser wheels, rear spoiler, suspension conversion and seats. The UK list price of the Quattro in 1984 was an already high £17,722 but after the Treser conversion this price rose to an eye watering £25,600.

Supplied new by Central Garage Cobham in 1984 and converted to Treser spec from new by them.
