he Type 85 Audi Quattro needs no introduction to the car nut. We are all familiar with the success enjoyed by Audi of the Quattro at the height of rallying around the world. We all watched our heroes, Hannu Mikkola, Walter Rohrl, Michele Mouton and Stig Blomqvist dominating rounds of the WRC and winning championships during the 80s. Quattro simply means “four” and UR is German for “original”. The Quattro concept was born in 1977 and launched at the 1980 Geneva Motor Show. The Quattro was the first all-wheel drive rally car and production ran from 1980 – 1991.
1989 saw a major revision, lifting horsepower to 220 bhp, with 20 valves and double overhead camshafts. The 20 Valve Quattro today is the final evolution of this demonic 1980s, four-wheel drive, ground breaking rally car. For the lover of Group B rallying, this is the most iconic homologation special of that decade.

The owner bought this car to us in 2018 for full inspection to ensure that it met the standard expected of any car in his collection. The team here immediately bonded with this very low mileage and original, un-welded example. A list of preventive and age-related recommendations was drawn up ensuring this car is not just utterly usable and turnkey but preserved for decades to come. The following was carried out:

The car has been part of an enormously exciting collection and been living alongside his Lamborghini Countach, Ferrari F40, pre-war Bentley, BMW E28 M5, Cooper S, to name but a few.
We have been asked to find a new home for this very special well-known Quattro as the owner is expanding his business.
The car will pass through the Classic Heroes workshop prior to hand over to the new owner for sales preparation. PDI, major service, cambelt change, new wiper blades, new MOT and final checks.
