Our Restored B10 Finds A New Home

The keys to this immaculate B10 3.3 Switch-Tronic Touring have now been handed over to the lucky new owner.

The car has been a regular visitor to us here at Classic Heroes over the last few years and during that time the car has wanted for nothing. The owner carried out a very thorough programme of mechanical future proofing ensuring that this 20-year-old Alpina could be relied upon to give superb daily use without nasty surprises.

Regularly serviced by us but also having benefitted from replacement of every coolant hose, heater hose, fuel hoses, thermostat, water pump, brake hoses, rebuilt brake calipers, ABS control unit rebuild, all new suspension bushes, ball joints, auto gearbox service, new differential oil seals, to name some of the work carried out to ensure irritating age related break-downs were eliminated.

The rear sub-frame, suspension, all arch liners, splash-shields, exhaust heat shields and fuel tank were then removed. Areas to the underside of the car taken back to bare metal, epoxy primed, new seam sealer to joints, new anti-stone chip product applied and then a coat of original underbody paint ensured this car is 100% corrosion free. The shell and cavities were then treated with a clear cavity wax ensuring long-term protection.

The E39 in general makes the most incredibly versatile modern classic but, its easy to forget they are 20 years old and although they can look stunning on the outside they can, if not properly future proofed, suffer from terrible corrosion. Always get any car of this age inspected by a well known specialist before parting with hard earnt cash.

After a few years of delightful and trouble free motoring, the owner decided it was now time to sell and we were delighted to find a new guardian who plans to care for this B10 to the same standard as the last owner.

Enjoy!
